There is no sense of community here...

We all know that no matter where we are there are always going to be those people we care about and those we think we can live without.  When I first started at my parish I knew there was a community, but becoming an accepted member would take some doing.  I was the new kid on the block trying to enter a world that included, in many cases, members of 30 years or more.  I didn't grow up in this parish.  However, I believed then and I am more convinced now that developing community begins with one person reaching out to another and being actively engaged.  So I guess my best advice is that if there is no community where you are, then help to build one.  It is so worth the effort; start small, one person at a time.  If that doesn't work, find a new parish where you can be comfortable; give up on the parish perhaps, but please don't give up on Jesus.
