The abuse of children and other scandals are awful.

Awful doesn't even begin to describe the abuse of sacred trust that has occurred and that in many cases was ignored, hidden or at best handled badly.  The long lasting and painful damage is almost incomprehensible.  If you are a victim, please know that I wish I had the "pixie dust" to sprinkle that would make it all go away. I don't have that "spoon full of sugar" to offer you, but I do believe that talking about it with a compassionate care giver along with prayer can help. In the final analysis, if you must give up on the Church, please don't give up on Jesus.

Silence in these matters does more harm than good; please speak out that we may clean our house.  Please remember too that there are some very wonderful men in the priesthood and I pray that all of us can look beyond the "jerks" and find the true heroes for there are many.
